As a student-teacher, I have cooperating teacher. My cooperating teacher name is Ma’am Jean Fraginal. She is a science teacher in USANT Junior High School. She handles grade 9; Narra SSC class, Agoho class, and Banyan class. Ma’am Jean is a kind and humble person. She always support me, comfort me by saying that the students must be very excited about my presence in the classroom, gave me advice in making lesson plan, and trusted me that I could done all teaching-demo. She’s one of the reasons why I enjoyed having teaching-practicum in Iriga, Philippines.
TEACHING METHODS
From what I already observed, Ma’am Jean used various method while teaching, it can be discussion, question and answer, or game. She started the class by motivated students and activated student’s prior knowledge by giving them reviewing questions about last topic so the students can be ready to learn new topic. She also used “question and answer” method while teaching to make sure everyone participated and active in class. Especially in science, she always relates the topic onto real-life situations to make it easy understood by students.
LEARNING MATERIALS AND INNOVATION
The teacher relates the topic with the used of different learning materials. It could be chalkboard, LCD projector and power point presentation. But, from what I already observed, the teacher enjoyed teaching by oral explanation and using chalkboard to wrote something. Rather than relying solely on textbooks, varied hands-on, minds-on, and hearts-on activities used to develop student interest and let them become active learners.
SOURCES OF LEARNING AND TECHNOLOGY
The teacher used “Science Links” book published by Rex Book Store that available in the library also used the internet to find other sources or references. Every student allowed to access school Wi-Fi if needed.
AUTHENTIC ASSESMENT
The authentic assessment that teacher used was a test. Test to assess student cognitive by giving them some questions that must be answered by individual at the end of learn. The teacher also provided worksheet activities. Teacher also assess student learning abilities by giving them library activity and laboratory exercises.
